The biggest hack to becoming a successful digital writer is to be consistent.
Without that, don’t even try.
But most writers have this one excuse in their back pocket:
“How the hell do I think of new writing ideas every day!?”
I’ve written articles every single day for 2 years straight. I’ve also posted dozens of threads on Twitter and other writing platforms. It’s safe to say I’ve posted 1,000+ pieces of content online.
So let me help you out with this.
Here are 9 ways to think of new writing ideas every day.
#1. Write down your personal narratives
Think of past experiences that define who you are today.
Write down 3 personal narratives that molded you. Chances are, other people can resonate with those narratives too.
Find new ways to write about each of those stories and you’ll be golden.
#2. Consume more content
Think of 3 different social media platforms you spend most of your time on.
Use those as content buckets. 50% of my ideas come from stuff I found on social media.
You can take that content and write your own opinion on it.
#3. Copy someone else’s ideas
I’ve stolen a few ideas from my favorite writers already.
I don’t copy them. I take their ideas and put my own spin on them.
Find a few writers you love to read and repurpose their content.
#4. Write about people you admire
If I had a penny for every Elon Musk story I see online, I’d be as rich as him.
Tons of people admire billionaires, celebrities, etc. I’ve written a few pieces about Michael Jordan myself.
If someone inspires you, write about them.
#5. Live an interesting life
You don’t need to jump off the Eiffel Tower or punch a random guy in the balls.
You can write about an argument you got into with your siblings. You can write about the time you got pulled over by a cop. You can write about how pissed off you are at the McDonald’s worker.
Simple experiences resonate with people the most.
#6. Write about the news
I love writing about hot-button issues.
I managed to piss people off with a recent article on Roe V. Wade. I don’t recommend doing this type of content all of the time.
You want content that will last a long time.
#7. Combine different niches
Niche 1: Love and relationships
Niche 2: Finances
Content idea: “I Made $15,000 From Going on Blind Dates And Here’s How”
#8. Stalk your readers
If you have a substantial following, see what comments your readers leave you.
Answer their questions with more content on the subject.
I do this with my email subscribers all the time.
#9. Write about being burnt out
Writers get burnt out on content all of the time (which is why you’re reading this).
To offset my periods of burnout, I write about ways to overcome burnout and ways others can overcome it.
We all know writing ideas are hard to come by if you don’t know where to look.
I’ve used all of these avenues to think of new writing ideas and I haven’t stopped writing since.
So what are you waiting for?
Start now.
Consuming more content is a must. Now only is it a great way to source inspiration but it’s great to support other writers!
Great information, again, @KHADEJAH J. So succinct and vibing high.
